Hi! My name is Bolivia Martha, dog lover, a tireless traveler, and a committed Spanish teacher.
Being a teacher in Mexico, I decided to leave my comfort zone and relocate to Vancouver, my home since 2010. Happily, I learned that there are many enthusiasts of the Spanish language and culture here. So, I enrolled in university again and chose a fresh educational path. Everything came very naturally, and I devoted myself to becoming a Spanish teacher for English speakers. The journey has been fantastic!
I have combined my own experience as a learner of other languages with the strategies learned at courses and workshops, into my teaching. I am aware of my students’ preferences and individual learning styles, and I provide them with the best approach to learning Spanish.
Having good knowledge of the Spanish language helps me teach in a very simple, fun, and clear manner. I go directly to the point. I understand how important time is to my students, so I make every class an opportunity to improve quickly.
STUDIES
I completed a major in Physics and obtained a Master's degree in Humanities from universities in Mexico and have actively participated at various conferences and courses related to Sciences and Education. I hold a TESOL certification from IH Vancouver and I have made studies in Education with a focus on Math and Spanish at UBC. I have also attended Spanish teacher training workshops in Spain and Mexico. I speak fluent Italian and French.
I have been a Spanish teacher for more than 10 years both in person and online to students of all ages. I have been hired by elementary and secondary schools and by several language schools in Vancouver and Toronto. I have taught groups at universities, mining companies, community centres, and conversation clubs. I am currently teaching online to students in different cities, mainly in Canada and China.
